My Sweet Mother

Good morning all, hope you are all having a wonderful day!!  Well it seems winter is back in Houston again, the temps this morning are below freezing and raining.  Perfect day for paper crafting.  I hope you all were able to caught Sparkle N Sprinkle's March 1st Reveal.  5 new stamp sets were released and they are all just so pretty!  I gave you a sneak peek of layouts to come, so I would like to share one with you today!!

This layout is of my mother at 3 years old, taken in 1940.  This picture was a black and white picture, my grandmother hand painted it with oil paints.  She really had a beautiful talent.  Most picture taken back in 1940 were all black and white and she painted most all of them, they were just as beautiful as was my mother!!

On this layout  I used the Crystal Medallion stamp set, it was one of the new stamps released on March 1st.

I stamped the image 3 times and cut out 2 of them.  They were all colored using copic markers.  Green Iris and Sparkling Snow were used to add all that pretty "sparkle".  These really made a beautiful embellishment for my layout.

Tim Holtz's Tattered Flower Die was used for the flowers.  I used several different stencil along with embossing paste on this layout.
I added glitter to the picture on the collar using SNS Tutorial for using glitter on your photos.

You can see the stencils and embossing paste really makes a pretty background design.  The beautiful butterflies are from Brocade Background stamp set.

Here is a look at a 2nd layout using the same picture, but completely different look!

The stamp sets used on this layout are all by Sparkle N Sprinkle, Crystal Medallion and Brocade Background.  The background paper was stamped with Brocade Background with versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

The Brocade Background stamps were used for the banners.

A 12x12 stencil was laid on top the DP and inked with versamark, remove the stencil and apply Silver Blue EP.  The corners were inked with versamark then apply clear embossing powder, apply Pixie Violet on top and heat from underneath.

I hope you enjoyed my layouts as much as I did making it!!  It brought back sweet memories of my mother, who I miss dearly.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day and remember.....Keep Stamping!

  3. two beautiful and amazing layouts, Belinda! So unique, even tho the same photo and stamp were used! Your grandmother did have a special talent! Wow! Did she paint FROM the photos, or paint on top of them? Photos were glossy back in that day, or maybe my parents only developed glossy look? LOL Your choices of vibrant colors really is outstanding, and so are the designs. Thanks for all the close-ups to show off the textures. Fabulous write up and fabulous-er design! Thank you! hugs, de

  4. Belinda, both your layouts are stunning. What a wonderful way to store your memories of mom and grandmother. She has painted the b&w photos so well. Now I know where your talent comes from.
